Del Mar Hills Junior Olympics for Grades 2 - 6: May 10th at 12:45

Jr. Olympics at Del Mar Hills is just around the corner. It will take place this year on Wednesday, May 10, from 12:45-1:30p.m. The Jr. Olympics is a free skills competition that provides boys and girls, in grades 2-6 the opportunity to showcase their athletic abilities in four (4) sports - basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field (50 meter dash and standing broad jump). We have practiced the events in PE class from grades 2-6.

The contest is based on SKILLS like dribbling, shooting, rallying a tennis ball, etc. Jr. Olympic Skills Competition encourages youth participation in sport and emphasizes fair and friendly competition.

Participation in Jr. Olympics is voluntary. Students can participate in any or all of the individual sports. Each sport is scored individually, boys and girls compete separately, and grade level groups are broken down as follows:  2nd, 3rd/4th, and 5th/6th. For those students who wish to participate, a parent-signed registration form must be turned in by Wednesday, April 26th.  Extra registration forms are available in the front office.

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each sport, each grade group, and each gender will receive a ribbon for their accomplishment. The 1st place winners will also be invited to compete at the DMUSD district competition in early June, at one of our district school sites.

We need parent volunteers to help me run the event on May 10th. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me as soon as possible at the email listed below. Thank you, in advance, for helping out with this fun competition at Del Mar Hills!
