Principal's Message

A Note from the Principal
March 24, 2017

Our Family Movie Night is underway and what a great turn out we have! Kids and families are enjoying the movie Moana, yummy snacks and being together. Torrey Hills is a great place to be.

The Primary Hawk of the Month Spirit Assembly was very special today because our kindergarten students performed their latest song from the musical production "Nuts!" As they sang and danced about the acorn growing into an oak tree our audience was absolutely charmed. Additionally, our Principal for the Day, Emille LaSala, warmly congratulated all of our award winners. We also recognized all of our Reflections participants and award winners today. It was truly an extraordinary assembly.

Congratulations to all of our amazing scientists! The Invention Fair participants really impressed parents and teachers with their incredible and innovative ideas. Students created useful and elaborate models and posters and they also gave very thoughtful presentations to describe their ideas. We are so lucky to have these inventors in our midst.

Please make sure to save the date for our Pajama Jam on April 28. This year promises to be even better than before with fun, new activities and prizes. It is the best event of the year. Our Pajama Jam is organized in order to encourage families to support our STEAM+ learning for all students at Torrey Hills. Please take a moment and become well informed about the needs at Torrey Hills and how you can help by reading the attached letter featuring photos of our students in their STEAM+ classes. The Del Mar Schools Education Foundation, and our representatives at Torrey Hills are hard at work making sure we can fund the specialists who teach our students everyday. Thank you to all who have contributed and support the well rounded education we are able to offer students in Del Mar.

Our Book Fair is coming on March 31. Please make sure to support Torrey Hills and the love of reading at our annual book fair. My letter supporting the book fair is also attached. Teachers will also send information home regarding the book fair and advice about how students can safely manage bringing money to school. I know our students get so excited for the book fair and I can't wait to see what new books we have this year.

Have a wonderful weekend!
